Vacation Guide
FAQs
We found a rental, what’s next?
What’s next? We speak with each tenant before we confirm a reservation with the owner. This way we give you the opportunity to ask us questions and clarify your requests before we proceed. If you haven’t contacted us by email yet, please do so or give us a call. We look forward to speaking with you soon.
Can we bring our pet with us on vacation?
Most of our rentals properties do not allow pets, and this policy is strictly enforced. However, some properties will allow you to bring a dog. Please call us for assistance.
What if I have to cancel my reservation?
We highly recommend that you always purchase our Travel Insurance when you book your vacation property. This insurance covers you for both before and during your trip. Tenants can purchase travel insurance prior to making their final payment. Once the final payment has been made, travel insurance is no longer available. Should you have to cancel and you don’t have insurance, you are liable for the full amount of the rental. We will make every effort to re-rent the property, and if we’re able to do so we will refund your payment, less a 15% cancellation fee. Please read our Policies & Procedures section for more details.
I want to check-in early. Why don’t you allow that?
We maintain a strict policy of no check-ins before 3:00 PM. We realize you are eager to get your vacation started, but prior to your arrival our cleaning crews and other service personnel need to go into the property. Early check-ins creates disruptions for our crews and staff.
Do you supply sheets & towels?
Most of our rentals do not include linens and towels. We are pleased to offer a linen package for each home with pricing listed on the descriptions of each home. The linen packages will include sheets, towels, bathmats and beach towels. Gibson Sotheby’s International Realty will be happy to process the order. Cape Cod Linen Rentals will then contact you to confirm the order within 48 hours and take a credit card as payment. You may bring your own sheets and towels as well. The individual owner of your vacation rental will supply pillows and blankets for all beds.
Will my vacation rental have an internet connection?
Many of our properties do have internet connectivity, but be sure to check the property description for your specific rental. Virtually all libraries on the Cape offer high speed internet, as do many cafes and restaurants. Some towns, such as Orleans, also offer an abundance of Wi-Fi hotspots.
We’ve reserved a condo at Ocean Edge. Why are you asking for the names of all the people in our party?
Ocean Edge Resort requires that we register all people in your party in order to issue individual passes for use of the Resort facilities. If the owner of the unit you’ve rented has the appropriate membership, you will be issued pool passes. We will be sending you our application for pool passes with your lease.
Where & when do I pick-up the keys to my vacation rental home?
Once we receive your final payment we will send you your check-in information. Check-in is between 3:00pm and 5:00pm on Saturday. If you are going to be later than 5:00pm or are not checking in on Saturday, please call us ahead of time at 1-877-255-7800.
Cape Cod has been known as a vacation destination for generations and has a ton to offer families when it comes to summertime activities. Below are just a few of the highlights, but take a look at our Recreation Links page for even more ideas.
Active Family Fun
If you’re looking for active family fun, you can start with hiking, biking or kayaking. The Cape Cod National Seashore offers 27,000 acres of paradise for all. Hikers can explore the dunes and pine forests, while the 25-mile Cape Cod Rail Trail is perfect for cyclists. If paddling is more of your style, head down to one of the many inlets, marshes and ponds along the coast and enjoy the saltwater. Pack your hiking boots, strap your bikes to the top of the car and bring your favorite water shoes for an unforgettable adventure. If you do not have a kayak, don’t worry, there are plenty of places rent one while you are here.
There are 15 distinctive towns to explore while you are on Cape Cod and they all offer a new adventure. Treat your family to a whale watching tour out of Provincetown into Cape Cod Bay, a traditional feeding ground for whales. In the evening, don’t miss the chance to bring your kids to the Wellfleet Drive-in Movie Theatre for a classic American experience…Don’t forget the popcorn!
If you prefer an exploring adventure, take the family on a tour of the picturesque lighthouses of Cape Cod; They can be found by walking, driving, cycling and boating. A great time not to be missed!
A Day at the Beach
Many visitors plan Cape Cod travel after hearing gushing praise for the local beaches, which are often considered some of the best in the country. With over 550 miles of coastline, it will be difficult to decide where to get cozy in the sand. Each of the 15 towns of Cape Cod boast great beaches. During your Cape Cod vacations, make it your mission to find your own favorite beach. Wherever choose you to put down your beach chair and umbrella, you will enjoy the pleasures of sunshine, surf and a good book!
On Outer Cape Cod, the National Seashore claims fame for its 40-miles of unspoiled sandy beaches that are especially well-known for their beauty. While mid-Cape gives you the opportunity to get your feet in the sand at Kalmus Beach in Hyannis, Breakwater Beach in Brewster and, for an off the beaten path location, spend a day at North Beach off of Chatham, accessible only by boat. If you are looking for the sandy flats of Cape Cod Bay, try a beach from Dennis to Eastham because you will be impressed by the long, sandy shoreline. Or, if you are looking to make a stop before you cross the bridge onto Cape Cod, stretch out on Sagamore Beach in Bourne.
Pack a good book and get ready to soak up the sun from Falmouth to Provincetown. Choose a vacation rental right on the beach and enjoy close proximity to the refreshing water’s edge. At night, watch the stars come out from your own balcony. With a vacation rental, you will experience Cape Cod as it was meant to be seen!
Hit the Water
Any quality Cape Cod travel guide will suggest that you hit the water and explore the surrounding islands, and we agree with that. Beyond Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket offer plenty to see and do. Climb aboard one of the island ferries and spend an afternoon exploring the quaint streets of the Cape’s neighbors. From art galleries and historic houses to candy stores and antique shops, you’ll get a greater feel for the atmosphere of this section of Massachusetts by visiting Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.
If you would rather stay closer to the Cape, don’t miss the opportunity for a day of fishing. No matter where you are staying, there are several options for sport fishing expeditions. Or, you can always hop on a seal cruise and see the thousands of seals that claim Monomoy Island as their summer home on Cape Cod. Don’t forget your camera! With options for every budget, there is no excuse not to enjoy the water during your Cape Cod travels!
